Emergency Triage for Practice Staff

Course Description:
In daily practice, correctly assessing complaints is crucial to identify emergencies early and provide patients with safe, timely, and structured care. In this workshop, practice staff will learn in a hands-on and interactive way how to competently and efficiently carry out emergency triage.

Content:

  • Basics of emergency triage in an ophthalmology practice
  • Key questions to ask on the phone for better classification: urgent, timely, or non-urgent
  • Practical tips for differentiation: when is it an emergency – when is it not?
  • Case examples from daily practice, top ten emergency situations
  • Background knowledge on dizziness and headaches related to ophthalmologic and systemic causes

Participants will gain confidence in telephone emergency triage, improve their competence in handling patients in acute situations, and thereby strengthen workflows and care quality in the practice.

This course is part of the OMPA training program. In this hands-on diagnostic course, you will learn the basics of OCT technology, along with many tips and tricks for device maintenance, optimizing image quality, and handling difficult situations. You will have the opportunity to ask questions and resolve individual problems, practice hands-on, and try out and familiarize yourself with different devices.
